    Prospective Deliverers
  • If you have an idea for an environmental offset project in the Pilbara, we want to hear from you.

To be eligible for funding, projects need to meet certain criteria, outlined in our Pilbara Environmental Offsets Fund Fact Sheet - What can be funded? If you think you have a project idea that meets the funding criteria, or you are interested in providing in-kind support to a project under development, the first step is to get in touch.

You can register you interest by using the form below and a member of the PEOF team will be in touch.

  • 1) What are you interested in?

As you can see from the Pilbara Environmental Offsets Fund Fact Sheet - What can be funded? there is a wide range of activities that can be considered for funding through PEOF. If a project meets the criteria of what can be funded, we are open to hearing your suggestions.

  • 2) Access to land

Improvements to vegetation and habitat resulting from offset projects must endure for an offset to be successful. Various mechanisms under different pieces of legislation can be used to provide security for offsets outcomes. Options that can be explored include leases, and conservation covenants. Certain areas are already afforded a level of protection that may be sufficient to ensure offset outcomes – these could include areas protected for cultural heritage, water source protection areas, or areas of exclusive native title where Traditional Owners are interested in land management.

  • 3) Research

Of the environmental offset projects delivered through the fund, about 90 per cent will have an ‘on-ground’ focus and 10 per cent will have a ‘research’ focus. Projects with a ‘research’ focus may include testing new and innovative management approaches, getting a better understanding of how to manage the landscape, or research that improves understanding of impacted environmental values. Research projects nested within broader projects are preferred to create a focus on how the research improves management, rather than research projects with a purely academic focus.

  • 4) In kind

Our Implementation Advisory Group has told us that industry would like to help in the delivery of biodiversity offset projects in the Pilbara. Delivering landscape-scale outcomes relies heavily on partnerships to create the best possible environmental benefits and sustain the consistent implementation of projects on Country. There are some aspects of project delivery which cannot be funded through PEOF (e.g. vehicles, equipment, trailers etc). This creates an opportunity for industry partners to support the delivery of offsets project through in-kind support.
